News from Sarasota Green Connection

I have only been to one of the Green World Cafe events -- I really enjoyed it but have just not gotten back. Here is some news from Mary Anne Bowie:

Next Green World Cafe Sept 7th

Sarasota Green Connection, Inc. invites you to attend this month’s Green World Café event on September 7, 2006 from 7-9pm in the Whole Foods Lifestyle Center. Peter and Julia Seyffert of Creative Aquascapes, will join us to discuss:

“Constructed Wetland Filtration and Floating Islands.”

Peter Seyffert, founder of Creative Aquascapes and his wife, Julia Hanlon Seyffert, will show us how we can cleanse the planet by replacing destroyed forests and wetlands with Floating Islands. This brand new technology has implications for our aquifers, near coastal waters, the Gulf of Mexico and beyond: sequestering heavy metals, consuming nitrates and phosphates and providing new habitats for fish, invertebrates, birds, and humans.

Hey all you Natural Capitalists!

The collection of stories that had been submitted by the Natural Capitalism Seminar for the "history of sustainability" or E-heros document will have an on-line version here that can be updated AS-NEEDED.

Keep those stories coming - add, change, edit and make this space yours!

I am also thinking of posting blank pages for those that have been nominated (20+ more people are on the "to-do" list, so if you know of someone who should be here, write their story!)

:-)

Founders, Solar Direct -- Living and Working for the Triple Bottom Line: People, Planet & Profits

Visitors to the Solar Direct website immediately become aware that they are not just dealing with the ordinary web commerce store or "Big Box Store" mentality in seeking home and commercial solar solutions. Proudly declared at the top of their home page is:

Jodi John

Sustainable Sarasota, Sarasota County Government

Editor's note: After bugging Jodi relentlessly to submit her story, she finally sort of acquiesced by submitting this letter that she wrote to the editor when  she was a Riverview High School student. She also submitted the history of Sarasota County's Sustainability Efforts. Thanks Jodi!!!

John Lambie

Editor's Note: I called Lambie one hour and 20 minutes from the Natural Capitalism Seminar document deadline and left a rant for him to pick up this message or it would be TOO LATE. Imagine my surprise when he calls back, but instead of a story I get a website reference. Well, leave it to Lambie and who am I to say?  Good thing it's close to 1000 words....
