Geraldson's Community Farm - Get Yours Down the Street!
Hey, the challenge by Manatee County is being made folks! Manatee County purchased 22 acres to develop a community farm. The Florida West Coast RC&D is putting together the conceptual plan to present to the Board of County Commissioners this September.
I think Sarasota County needs one, too!!!! 
When Jeannell Innerarity was doing her research on her thesis on the community gardens of Sarasota, she asked me what my vision for community gardens or local agriculture was and I said this: everyone within walking distance of a community farm or community garden.
Those two items - local food and transportation to local food - sum up some pretty urgent needs for a community focused on sustainability.
Anyone interested in rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty in this effort, you gotta check out the RC&D.
